Dark Chocolate and Cherries Flapjacks

Flapjacks in the U.K. look very different from American flapjacks. Stateside flapjacks seem to be another word for pancakes, but in England...think more along the lines of a sweet, ooey-gooey, oat bar. They can come in all kinds of flavors and in this recipe I have combined a delicious fusion of Belgium dark chocolate and glacé cherries.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I have!





Serves 4

Prep: 10 mins

Cook Time: 25 mins




4 Tbsp. Butter

½ Cup Brown Sugar 

5 Tbsp. Honey

2/3 Cup Chopped Glacé Cherries or Dried Cherries

1 ½ Cups Oats

¼ Cup Belgium Dark Chocolate Chips




1)Preheat oven to 325°F (190°C / 170°C Fan).  



2)Melt the butter and add brown sugar, honey, and chopped cherries.  Mix together.  



3)    Remove from heat then add and stir half of the dark chocolate chips and oats to mixture.



4)Grease a small square or rectangle casserole dish with butter and pour in mixture smoothing the top with spatula. 


5)Bake for 25 mins.  or until golden brown. 


6)Sprinkle remaining dark chocolate chips over the flapjacks and set aside until cooled.  Be sure the flapjacks have completely cooled before cutting into squares. 


7) Serve and enjoy!
